Bonvoy Brilliant Card Features and Benefits

As mentioned, this is a premium credit card.  The annual fee of $450 certainly demonstrates this fact.  With this in mind, the Bonvoy Brilliant packs a serious punch in terms of card benefits.  The best feature of this card would be the $300 statement credit.  For individuals who regularly stay at Marriott Properties, this will essentially be a discount off your annual fee.  This credit allows for all eligible purchases made at Marriott properties that are charged to your card.  This would include things like spa services, room services, and other eligible charges.

Another big plus of the Bonvoy Brilliant Card is the point reward structure.  First, customers will earn 6x points with Marriott purchases.  This includes reservation charges.  Secondly, customers will earn 3x points with all restaurant purchases.  You will also receive 3x points for airline charges booked directly with airlines.  Finally, all other purchases are eligible for 2x points when using your card.  Points will add up very quick thanks to these high level reward structures.

Marriot Bonvoy Brilliant cardholders will also earn a free night each year with their card.  This night is eligible for properties up to the 50,000 point level per night.  In addition to the free night, cardholders will automatically be eligible for Gold Elite Status with Marriott.  This will provide additional upgrades and features when you are staying at Marriott Properties.

Additional benefits with the Marriott Brilliant Card include:

  • Global Entry/TSA Precheck credit every 4 years
  • In room premium internet access at Marriott Properties
  • Redeem points for free nights at over 6,700 properties worldwide
  • Priority Pass Select Airport Lounge Access

New Sign Up Bonus – 100,000 Bonvoy Points

Through April 24th, 2020 new cardholders will earn 100,000 Bonvoy Points when they meet spending requirements.  To qualify for this bonus you will need to spend $5,000 within the first 3 months of opening your new account.  The spending requirement for this bonus is relatively high compared to other credit card bonuses.  However, the 100,000 points is a very big reward and customers will want to make sure they are able to reach the spending requirements to take advantage of this offer.

Final Thoughts – Is This Card Worth The Fee?

There are many features of this card that will allow cardholders to offset the hefty $450 annual fee.  If you are able to take advantage of the annual free night and the $300 annual credit, you will mostly offset your annual fee.  Given the high reward rates provided with the Brilliant Card, it definitely outmatches the other Marriott options.  Ultimately this card will be mostly reserved for customers who frequently stay with Marriott.
