AMEX Gold Card – Major Updates and Upgrades
For weeks there has been major speculation that the Amex Premier Rewards Gold Card was going to be relaunched with new benefits and features and the details have not been confirmed. Overall, the changes appear that that will be very well received – the only negative change is that cardholders will not longer receive a point multiplier for gas purchases but the new revamps will more than make up for this. The most exciting features of the new AMEX Gold Card include:
- 4x Points For Supermarket Purchases – good through the first $25,000 spent each year at Supermarkets
- 4x Points For Restaurant Purchases Made In The US – This is double the previous bonus for restaurants
- 3x Points For Airfare Purchases – Purchases must be made directly with the airline or through AMEX
- Cardholders will receive a $100 Airline Credit for incurred fees each year
- Cardholders will receive $10 per month for dining credit with participating vendors
Between the 4x points for Supermarket purchases and the 4x points for dining this card is certainly among the top reward cards available. Along with the dining and travel bonus, much of the $250 annual fee can be accounted for through these aspects alone. One other very exciting offer associated with this credit card is that there is a limited time Rose Gold version of the card. This version will only be availeble for several months so if you want to be the only one of your friends with a Rose Gold AMEX you do not want to wait on this deal.
Bonus Offer Available For New AMEX Gold Card Applicants
If you are interested in the revamped version of this credit card there is a significant bonus offer available for new cardholders (be aware, the American Express Gold Card is tailored towards consumers with great credit). If approved, customers will have the chance to earn an additional 25,000 reward points when they make a total of $2,000 in purchases using their new account within the first 3 months of opening an account. Additionally, cardholders will receive 20% back up to $100 on dining purchases made in the first three months of opening their new account (AMEX is cleverly advertising this feature as their way of covering the tip!)
The revisions to this credit card are clearly aimed at drawing in travelers and diners. These are going to be among the most competitive rewards for these categories in the credit card industry. Current cardholders will not see the increase in annual fee until April of 2020 and their updated features will automatically be applied. It seems these changes will be warmly welcomed as AMEX continues to assert themselves among the top when it comes to credit card rewards.
